Dear House buyers
It is coming to a ten-year period since we signed the SPA for our houses in Ukay Bistaria. Two GE’s has gone through and we are about to face the 3rd GE, which is the 13th GE in the next few weeks. In the last 5 years VICTIMS has gone all over trying to resolve this housing issues. We sacrificed our time in trying to engage the government to work on our plight.
To date, project is moving slowly and the reason why it is moving is because we VICTIMS and the many house buyers shouted, bang table, negotiated and use all tricks in the books to get the developer to work. It is our constant pressure and harassment that push the project to continue. In the meantime the Minister and JPN has decided not to talk to VICTIMS since block A purchasers raided the developer office in Dec 2011 and took the keys.
We have been pushing JPN of KPKT (Ministry of Housing) and the Minister to use their power under the law to complete the houses. They refuse to listen to us and prefer to accommodate the developer request. Their involvement is merely restricted to monitoring. To get the Minister or the officer in JPN to take specific is so difficult. It is probably easier to mover a mountain. From our observation, the Minister and officers at JPN are pro-developers. They are part of the problem. They have no concrete plan in solving any problem and simply do not want to dirty their hands. The Minister and the officers are the real problem. The developers are business people- if they can cheat they will cheat. We expect the government to protect the weak but instead they prefer to protect the developer.
For the record the Minister of Housing promised that he would deliver our house in Dec 2010. It has been two years since the minister got involved. The ministry is still “monitoring mode” and while they are monitoring they don’t even realized that the developer has liquidated himself or herself using a friendly party. They didn’t even know that the company has been liquidated until we told them and now they say that it is outside their hands because it has been liquidated!
The impact of the decisions is 1400 buyers will not get their LAD. Project completion is delayed by another 18 months. 180 house buyers will lose their deposits and will not get their houses. Some of the buyers are lucky that they got their house. What about the rest? We started this fight as one group. We should finish off what we started. Nearly 400 house buyers of Platinum 88 are also facing same predicament
Why are we in the current situation? It is because the Minister does not want to use its powers. The Housing Controller (Ketua Pengarah JPN) does not want to use it powers. If they had intervened and used their powers, they could send the Directors of Damai and TSCAC to jail and complete the project in 2 years. It is now coming to 5 years since VICTIMS go involved. In the last 10 years some buyers have died and 1 buyer committed suicide.
Time has come that we as VICTIMS take a stand. Should we continue to vote the government that refuses to solve the problem? Should we continue to vote the government that refuse to listen to us? Some of you have got your house as a result of VICTIMS effort. At this stage we asked you to think hard before you go and vote. Punish BN for their refusal to reduce our problem. I asked all buyers of Platinum 88 and UK Bistari NOT to vote BN unless they do the following
- Apologize in writing to VICTIMS Malaysia and House Buyers in UKB, platinum 88 for his failure to protect house buyer interest
- Written commitment from the Minister that Block A-F will be completed not later than 30th April.
- To give a written commitment that they will ensure that buyers of PKS/PKSR will get back their money or their house
- A written commitment from the Minister that Platinum 88 buyers will get their house before June 2013.
If BN want our votes, the must fulfilled our demands. If they don’t, then I ask all members of VICTIMS Malaysia and all house buyers to vote Pakatan.
